US will sort out trade deal with India after it stops buying Russian oil: Lutnick

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick indicated that a trade agreement with India could move forward as soon as New Delhi stops buying oil from Russia.

Speaking to CNBC about key trade priorities, Lutnick said, “Well, we’re going to sort out India,” adding that progress depends on India ending its Russian oil imports. Lutnick’s remarks comes amid tensions between the two nations over trade and energy policies.

Lutnick’s remarks follow the United States’ shift in tone on trade talks with India. Just a day earlier, President Donald Trump referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “dear friend.”

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
