Disney says ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ returns Tuesday after suspension over comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination

Disney announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return to the air Tuesday, ending a brief suspension of the late-night host. The pause came after Federal Communications Commission chair threats over remarks Kimmel made about the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

The show had been abruptly pulled last week, a decision Disney now describes as an attempt to defuse tensions at what it called “an emotional moment for our country.” In a statement, the company said, “We felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive, and we made the decision to avoid further inflaming a tense situation.”

Disney added that the pause allowed for “thoughtful conversations with Jimmy” before moving forward. The company did not specify which remarks prompted the move, but stressed that the return reflects an agreement on tone and timing.

Kimmel, a mainstay of late-night television for more than two decades, is set to resume hosting duties as usual when the ABC show returns on Tuesday.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
