Israel stops Gaza aid flotilla vessels, says Greta Thunberg and others on board are safe

Israel has intercepted several vessels of the Gaza aid flotilla and diverted them to an Israeli port, the foreign ministry said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the ministry said, “Already several vessels of the Hamas-Sumud flotilla have been safely stopped and their passengers are being transferred to an Israeli port.”

Among those on board was Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. The ministry shared a post on X saying she and other passengers were “safe and healthy,” alongside a video that appeared to show Thunberg with masked and armed Israeli personnel.
