Special Report: Pakistan’s Terror Export Unravels, New Front Opens in Bangladesh

On this Statecraft Special Report, host Geeta Mohan investigates Pakistan’s decades-long policy of using state-sponsored terrorism as a strategic tool, tracing its origins from the anti-Soviet jihad to its modern-day manifestations in India, Afghanistan, Nepal, and a resurgent focus on Bangladesh. The programme details the roles of the ISI, Lashkar-e-Toiba, and Jaish-e-Mohammad, and examines recent events, including a terror plot in Delhi and high-level Pakistani military and extremist engagements with Bangladesh’s new Yunus-led government. The report asserts that ‘Pakistan’s most consistent export has been terror, not wheat, not cotton, and certainly not software’. It explores how this strategy has destabilised the region and is now causing blowback within Pakistan itself, questioning how long the world will tolerate this ‘architect of anarchy’.
