Putin wishes Trump on birthday, discusses Iran-Israel conflict, Ukraine talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin, while speaking to US President Donald Trump on his birthday, condemned the Israeli military operation against Iran and expressed concern about the risks of escalation, said the Kremlin.

“Vladimir Putin condemned Israel’s military operation against Iran and expressed serious concern about a possible escalation of the conflict, which would have unpredictable consequences for the entire situation in the Middle East,” Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters, a PTI report mentioned.

According to Ushakov, Trump too expressed his concerns over the current situation in the middle-east, terming it as ‘very alarming’.

However, both leaders hoped that negotiations would bring about a solution to Iran’s nuclear programme.

Donald Trump claimed on Friday that he had prior information about Israel’s strikes on Iran and had termed the raid as “excellent” and “very successful”. He also insisted that it’s still ‘not too late’ for Tehran to return to the negotiating table on its nuclear program.

Meanwhile Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to strike every site and target of the Iranian regime and said that soon Israeli Air Force planes will be over the skies of Tehran.

He also warned that what Iran has experienced so far would be nothing in front of what they are going to face in the coming days.

He also said that the goal of the Israeli operation is two fold – to foil Iran’s nuclear ambitions and to stop its ballistic missiles programme.
