At least 12 people were injured in a knife attack at Hamburg train station on Friday evening, according to Germany’s Bild newspaper. Local police confirmed that a woman was arrested as a suspect. Among the victims, three are in critical condition, three are seriously injured, and six others sustained minor injuries, Bild reported.
Hamburg police shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the 39-year-old woman was arrested shortly after the incident and is believed to have acted alone. However, the motive for the attack remains unclear.
According to police, the attacker targeted people on the platform between tracks 13 and 14 at the station. Located in downtown Hamburg, Germany’s second-largest city, the station serves as a key point for local, regional and long-distance train services.
