Elon Musk blames X algorithm amid ‘Nazi salute’ row: Gonna lose my mind

Amid an ongoing row over Elon Musk’s infamous “Nazi salute,” the Tesla CEO on Friday said that he would “lose his mind” if he encountered another such raised-arm gesture in his feed.

Slamming the algorithm, the tech giant on his official X handle writes, “If I see one more damn Nazi salute in my feed, I’m gonna lose my mind. This algorithm sucks!!”

The SpaceX CEO sparked controversy on Monday during US President Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC, where he addressed a crowd of Trump supporters. Raising his arms, he shouted “yes,” energising the audience.

“This was no ordinary victory. This was a fork in the road of human civilisation. This one really mattered. Thank you for making it happen. Thank you,” Musk said. He then placed his right hand on his chest, fingers spread wide, before raising his arm at an upward angle, palm down, fingers together. He repeated the motion, turning to acknowledge the crowd behind him.

Responding to criticism over his gesture, Musk said, “The radical leftists are really upset that they had to take time out of their busy day praising Hamas to call me a Nazi.”

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the tech mogul for being “falsely smeared” in a controversy over his gesture.

“Elon is a great friend of Israel,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on X.

Netanyahu added that the billionaire, tasked by President Donald Trump with reducing US government spending, had “repeatedly and forcefully supported Israel’s right to defend itself against genocidal terrorists and regimes who seek to annihilate the one and only Jewish state.”

Musk responded to Netanyahu’s defence with a simple “thank you” on X.
