Elon Musk endorses Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio governor amid rift reports: Good luck
Tesla CEO Elon Musk and United States President Donald Trump endorsed Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio Governor as the former Republican presidential candidate launched his campaign. The Indian-American billionaire and former Republican presidential candidate had quit Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) soon after he took office and announced his plans to run for Ohio Governor.
Ramaswamy, while launching his campaign near the Cincinnati suburb, vowed to push for economic reforms, tax cuts, and deregulation.
Elon Musk, the man leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump administration, voiced his support for Ramaswamy. He posted on X, “Good luck, you have my full endorsement!” Ramaswamy responded, “Thank you Elon. Let’s roll!”
Trump also took to his social media platform X to extend support to Ramaswamy who he had picked as co-leader for DOGE.
“Vivek Ramaswamy is running for Governor of the great state of Ohio. I know him well, competed against him, and he is something special,” Trump said in a post on social media. “He’s young, strong, and smart! Vivek is also a very good person, who truly loves our country. He will be a great Governor of Ohio, will never let you down, and has my complete and total endorsement!”
There were speculations of a rift between Musk and Ramaswamy after the later announced that he had decided to quit DOGE. However, the Indian-origin billionaire had dismissed the reports.
Asked by Fox News host Jesse Watters over speculation of a rift between him and Musk, Ramaswamy replied, “I think that’s incorrect. But what I would say is, we had different and complementary approaches. I focused more on a constitutional law, legislative-based approach. They focused more on a technology approach, which is the future approach.”
When asked straight up whether Musk fired him, Ramaswamy denied such an instance and wished him well.
“No, we had a mutual discussion. We are on the same page. Divide and conquer. In saving the country, it’s not a one-man show from the top down or the bottom up. It’s all of the above. And that’s what I’m for,” he said.
Ramaswamy’s campaign will be guided by the top political advisers of Vice President JD Vance, who previously represented Ohio in the US Senate.
Speaking at a rally in Cincinnati while officially launching his campaign, Ramaswamy, an Ohio native, said, “I am running to be the next Governor of a great state at the heart of the greatest nation known to mankind – the state where I was born and raised, the state where Apoorva and I raise our two sons today – a state whose best days are still ahead.”
“I will lead Ohio to be the top state in the country to start and grow a business… We will shred every excess regulation in this state. For every new regulation that gets on the books under my administration, we will require rescinding at least ten others before that regulation hits the books,” he said in his speech.
