Gaza negotiations advancing rapidly, first phase will be finished this week: Trump

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that negotiations aimed at ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of hostages held by Hamas were progressing rapidly.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said there had been “very positive discussions” involving Hamas and “countries from all over the world — Arab, Muslim, and everyone else” over the weekend.

He said the talks were focused on releasing hostages, ending the war, and achieving “long sought peace in the Middle East.”

“The technical teams will again meet Monday in Egypt to work through and clarify the final details,” Trump wrote, adding that he had been told “the first phase should be completed this week.”

Trump urged negotiators to act swiftly, warning that any delay could lead to more violence. “Time is of the essence or massive bloodshed will follow — something that nobody wants to see,” he wrote.

Trump said he would continue to monitor the progress of the talks, describing the conflict as a “centuries-old” issue that requires urgent resolution.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
