Hamas, Palestinian factions reject any foreign guardianship over Gaza

Hamas and other major Palestinian groups have drawn a sharp line on Gaza’s future. In a joint statement on Friday, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine rejected what they called any form of “foreign guardianship” over the territory, insisting that Gaza’s governance is an entirely Palestinian affair.

At the same time, the factions said they were open to Arab and international involvement in rebuilding the war-battered enclave.
