Hamas will face complete obliteration if it refuses to cede power in Gaza, says Trump as deal deadline nears

Hamas will face “complete obliteration” if it does not cede power and control in Gaza as per his peace plan, US President Donald Trump warned before the deadline ends at 6 pm (Washington time) on Sunday. Trump’s latest warning comes just 12 hours ahead of the deadline expires.

When asked by CNN on Saturday whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supports halting the bombing in Gaza and aligns with the US’s broader peace efforts, Donald Trump responded, “Yes on Bibi”.

In the interview, which aired on Sunday, Trump further said he expects to learn soon whether Hamas is genuinely committed to pursuing peace.

On Friday, Trump asked the Palestinian terrorist group to reach a peace deal with Israel by Sunday, 6 pm, warning that otherwise all hell will break out.

Trump said that Hamas was being given one last chance to accept his peace plan, release the Israeli hostages and call it a day on the hostilities, saying “there will be peace one way or the other”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already agreed to the ceasefire plan.

Trump, who has been pushing both Israel and Hamas to agree on a peace deal to end the two-year-long Gaza war, outlined a 20-point proposal that not only calls for an immediate halt to the fighting but also lays out a framework for Gaza’s postwar governance.

The White House had released the plan, describing it as a roadmap for both ending the conflict and shaping the territory’s future administration.

According to Trump’s 20-point peace plan, a temporary governing board would be established, chaired by the Republican leader himself and joined by figures including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The framework makes clear that no one in Gaza would be forced to leave, and stipulates that the fighting would cease immediately if both Israel and Hamas accept the terms.
