‘Incredible News!’ : US Vice President J.D. Vance praises Daniel Penny’s Silicon Valley job offer
US Vice President JD Vance acknowledged Marine veteran Daniel Penny’s new role at American capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, two months after Penny was cleared of charges over Jordan Neely’s death in the New York City subway.
US Marine veteran Daniel Peeny was acquitted from charges of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in December 2024.
Vance shared the post on X regarding Penny’s job and wrote, “Incredible news.” The Vice President had previously supported Daniel Penny when he was acquitted of the case in December 2024. Vance claimed on X that the Marine veteran was a “good guy, and New York’s mob district attorney tried to ruin his life for having a backbone.”
Daniel Penny has been listed as a deal partner on the website of Andreesen Horowitz. David Ulevitch, a General Partner of the Venture capital firm, reposted Vance’s tweet on X.
Andreesen Horowitz’s Donald Trump link
Andreesen Horowitz declared it’s support to Donald Trump for the 2024 Presidential elections in July last year. Co-founders of the firm, Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz each donated $2.5 million to a pro-Trump super PAC as per Federal Election Commission.
Daniel Penny himself enjoyed the backing of the US President. Days after his acquittal from the death case, he was spotted with Trump and JD Vance at the 125th Army-Navy Game.
Charges against Daniel Penny
The Marine veteran was accused of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide of Jordan Neely, a subway performer in New York City in May 2024. A four-minute video clip allegedly showed Penny wrapping his arms around the neck of the African American.
In December last year, he was acquitted of both charges. The twelve-person jury was in deadlock over manslaughter charges on December 6. With Daniel Penny receiving acquittal from homicide charges just three days later.
Jordan Neely’s death had sparked outrage and Penny was accused of killing him for being black. However, in a statement video, he asserted that he did not see the colour of Neely during his act to protect passengers. Daniel Penny said, “I didn’t see a Black man threatening passengers. I saw a man threatening passengers, a lot of whom were people of colour.”
