The document states that the tariff on India is for purchasing Russian energy products and is part of a “push for peace” related to the war in Ukraine. The appeal argues, “The tariffs are promoting peace and unprecedented economic prosperity for America”. It also contends that striking down the tariffs would expose the US to trade retaliation. This legal challenge follows a 7-4 decision by the US Court of Appeals, which ruled the President did not have the authority to impose these tariffs. The administration is now seeking an expedited hearing from the nation’s highest court.
