Myanmar earthquake: Building collapses in Bangkok, bridge falls in Myanmar after major earthquake

Two powerful earthquakes, measuring 7.7 and 6.4 in magnitude, hit Myanmar on Friday. The tremors were so strong that they were felt in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. An under-construction building in Bangkok and a bridge in Myanmar collapsed due to the massive quakes.

In the above video, a man can be heard drawing attention to an under-construction building that collapsed due to the earthquake.

Another video of the earthquake showed water sloshing out of pools from a high-rise building in Bangkok.

Shocked residents poured out of high-rise condominiums and hotels in densely populated central Bangkok.

After the massive earthquake, several buildings were evacuated as they swayed in the rare quake.

A video showed the iconic Mahanakorn building in Bangkok swaying during the earthquake on Friday.

Fire and severe damage was reported at Mandalay University in Myanmar, with reports of casualties.

BTS Skytrain was seen rocking violently in Bangkok during the earthquake. All BTS stations are now temporarily closed.

Germany’s GFZ center for geosciences said the midday temblor was a shallow 10 kilometers, with an epicenter in neighboring Myanmar, according to temporary reports.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
