Pakistan To Acquire 40 Advanced Stealth J-35A Fighter Jets From China: Reports

China is reportedly in advanced talks with Pakistan for the sale of 40 J-35A stealth fighter jets, marking a significant milestone in military relations between the two countries. If the deal is finalized, Pakistan will be the first nation outside China to operate the advanced J-35A fighter jets. These multi-role, twin-engine stealth aircraft will replace Pakistan’s ageing fleet of US-made F-16s and French Mirage jets. With a design similar to the US F-35, the J-35A offers significant upgrades in air defense capabilities and could alter the regional military balance. Despite Pakistan’s ongoing economic crisis and heavy reliance on international bailout packages, the country is moving forward with the acquisition. The deal is expected to be finalized soon, with deliveries set to occur in less than two years. However, questions remain regarding the financing of such a massive purchase, with experts suggesting that China may extend another loan to Pakistan, which the latter may struggle to repay. Although China has not officially confirmed the sale, discussions between senior Pakistani and Chinese officials have been ongoing, with Pakistani Air Force officials attending the Zhuhai air show where the J-35A was first displayed. The deal reflects a growing military partnership between the two countries, as Pakistan looks to modernize its air fleet and boost its defense capabilities.
