Revealing wedding dress of daughter of Iran’s hijab enforcer sparks outrage

A video showing the daughter of an aide to Iran’s Supreme Leader wearing a plunging strapless wedding gown has ignited fury in Tehran, with the Western-style lavish ceremony triggering accusations of hypocrisy in a nation known for strict hijab laws for women.

The video, which has gone viral, shows Ali Shamkhani – the 70-year-old senior adviser to the Supreme Leader – walking his daughter Fatemeh down the aisle at a wedding hall. The wedding took place at Tehran’s luxury Espinas Palace Hotel.

The bride is seen wearing a strapless white dress with a low neckline as she enters the ceremony hall amid loud cheers and music. Several women who attended the event were seen without a headscarf, with several Iranian activists and social media users slamming the “double lives” of elite officials of the Islamic Republic.
