Mark Carney succeeds Justin Trudeau as next Canada PM
Mark Carney, a 59-year-old Harvard graduate and former central banker with no prior experience in public office, has been appointed as Justin Trudeau’s successor, becoming Canada’s next Prime Minister and leader of the ruling Liberal Party. Amid ongoing tensions between Canada and the U.S., Carney has frequently criticized Donald Trump, at one point even likening the former American President to the Harry Potter villain Lord Voldemort.
