US soybean farmers hurt due to China, will meet Xi Jinping in 4 weeks, says Trump

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in four weeks, adding that soybeans will be a major topic amid ongoing trade tensions.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said American soybean farmers are being hurt because China has stopped buying their crops “for negotiating reasons only.” He added that his administration has collected significant revenue from tariffs and would use some of it to support farmers.

Trump also criticised his predecessor, Joe Biden, for failing to enforce a trade agreement that required China to purchase billions of dollars’ worth of US farm products, including soybeans. “Sleepy Joe Biden didn’t enforce our Agreement with China,” Trump wrote.

Looking ahead to his upcoming meeting with Xi, Trump promised that soybeans and other crops would be “a major topic of discussion.” He assured farmers that “it’s all going to work out very well.”

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
