Delta Airlines plane crashes at airport in Canada, 8 injured
A plane crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, with initial reports indicating that eight people were injured. CBC television reported that the plane, which was arriving from Minneapolis, flipped upon landing. Paramedics at the scene confirmed that one person was critically injured, while the others sustained mild to moderate injuries, Reuters reported.
Toronto’s Pearson Airport acknowledged the incident, stating that it involved a Delta Air Lines flight. “We are aware of an incident involving a Delta Air Lines plane arriving from Minneapolis, and emergency teams are responding,” the airport said in a statement on X. The airport also confirmed that all passengers and crew were accounted for.
Peel Regional Police Constable Sarah Patten provided further details, saying, “There is a plane crash. However, we don’t know the circumstances surrounding it at this point.” She added, “It is my understanding that most of the passengers are out and unharmed, but we’re still trying to make sure, so we’re still on scene investigating.”
Several videos of the crashed plane emerged on social media, depicting emergency crews at the scene. The footage also showed the plane lying on its back.
Toronto Pearson airport’s website listed over forty delayed flights both arriving and departing. The US Federal Aviation Administration also confirmed a ground stop at the airport.
