China has condemned the United States over its move to revoke visas of Chinese students, calling it a politically driven and discriminatory act that undermines bilateral ties.

Reacting to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s remarks on the issue, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Thursday said, “The US’ unjust revocation of Chinese students’ visas under the pretext of ideology and national security has seriously undermined their legitimate rights and interests and disrupted normal people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. China firmly opposes this.”
