Just ahead of Charlie Kirk’s murder wife spoke of divine help in trouble

Less than three hours before conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated during an event at a college campus, his wife, Erika Kirk, posted a verse from the Bible that spoke of God’s refuge and help in trouble.

“Psalm 46:1-God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,” posted Erika Kirk, a former beauty queen and entrepreneur.

Though Erika posts regularly from the Bible and on matters of religion and faith, the refuge and strength, along with “help in trouble” in the verse caught people’s attention.

Kirk’s assassination, viewed as a “political killing” could add to the chaos at American campuses.

Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck while he was interacting with a crowd of about 3,000 at Utah Valley University on Wednesday (US time) and died soon after at a hospital.

“That verse is so powerful and timely. Praying for Charlie’s full recovery and for strength for Erika and their family during this frightening time. God truly is a refuge in moments of trouble,” an X user wrote while Kirk was battling for life.

Condolences and support poured in for Charlie Kirk’s family. From President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama to Cabinet member Robert F Kennedy Jr, everyone mentioned the bereaved Erika and her two young children with Charlie.

“I spoke to Erika, We had a long talk. She’s devastated. She’s absolutely devastated as you can imagine,” said Trump.

Several people did refer to the coincidence of Erika’s post as “divine timing” and “power of faith”.

“Erika Kirk posts Psalm 46:1 hours before Charlie’s shooting—divine timing or eerie coincidence? Why no focus on preventing these attacks?” wrote a person on X.

“Seeing the Psalm 46:1 she posted, one can really feel the power of faith,” said a New York-based person.

Charlie Kirk was the founder of Turning Point USA and was one of the most prominent MAGA influencers. Trump has announced the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously for him.

Several videos are out on social media showing the family man that Charlie Kirk was. A devoted husband and a doting father.

Charlie and Erika first met in 2018 and married in 2021.

Erika Kirk did a double major in political science and international relations from Arizona State University. She was crowned Miss Arizona USA in 2012. She is pursuing a doctorate in biblical studies from Liberty University.

“Steadfast in faith” reads Erika’s bio on X. The timing of her post just ahead of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and its reference to God’s refuge and “help in trouble” have made people discuss coincidence and “divine timing”.
