US President Donald Trump signs executive order to make IVF more affordable

US President Donald Trump signed three executive orders on Tuesday, including one aimed at making in vitro fertilisation (IVF) more affordable across the country. The move follows his campaign promise that, if elected, IVF treatments would be covered either by the government or insurance companies.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the signing, stating, “The Order directs policy recommendations to protect IVF access and aggressively reduce out-of-pocket and health plan costs for such treatments.” The administration aims to expand access to fertility treatments while addressing the financial burden faced by many families struggling with infertility.

Trump also confirmed that tariffs on imported vehicles will be set at around 25%, with further details expected on April 2. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump said, “I’ll probably tell you that on April 2, but it’ll be in the neighbourhood of 25%.”

Last week, Trump had indicated that auto tariffs would take effect as soon as April 2, the day after his cabinet is set to deliver reports outlining potential import duties. The move is part of his broader effort to reshape global trade policies and boost domestic manufacturing.
